o Runoff from farms and cities can disrupt the balance of the water ecosystem and endanger the entire ecosystem
o The process of bodies of water filling in because of pollution is called eutrophication
o Indicator species- a species that provides a sign, or indication, of the quality of the ecosystem’s environmental conditions EX- tadpoles’ skin is very water-permeable, so they come into direct contact with water pollutants
