o Biomagnifications- fat-soluble pollutants move up the food chain as predators eat prey, accumulating in higher concentrations in the bodies of predators
o Because each predator must eat more prey than its prey had to eat, the predator will get the most PBC (chemical contaminates- polychlorinared bipenyls)
o Thus, the most serious effects are seen in the top of the food chain
o These toxins can effect fetuses and nursing young
