o Oil and coal support the majority of the country’s energy use
o Nonrenewable resources- natural resource that is used more quickly than it can form
o This is leading to an energy crisis
o Renewable resources- resources that cannot be used up or can replenish themselves over time
o Even renewable resources, such as drinking water, can run out if there is too much population
o Careful management of these resources is very important
