Genetic screening- the process of testing DNA to determine a person’s risk of having or passing on a genetic disorder
• 10% of people have illness related to genes at some point in their life
• Genetic screening involves a pedigree analysis and DNA tests
• Looking for specific genes or proteins that indicate a particular disorder
• Tests for 900 genetic disorders
• Ethnical questions- Is the info helpful or harmful? Should genetic screening be required?
