- 250,000 identified flowering plant species us. 720 gymnosperms
-cotyledon- embryonic leaf inside a seed

Monocots
-one cotyledon
-parallel veins
-flower parts in multiples of 3
-scattered vascular tissue

Dicots
-two cotyledons
-net like veins
-flowering parts in multiplies of 2, 4, or, 5
